Deborah then led us to us to a remarkable khadi (homespun cotton) emporium on Connaught Circus where Indians were shopping madly for a wide variety of goods at very low prices. I bought a nice shirt here for $2.00. The upstairs silk department was not nearly so crowded.
After the khadi emporium, we set off to find a tailor to turn some of Deborah's newly-bought fabric into a vest to her specifications and to alter my shirt ($3.00). It was a fascinating process.
