Absences

A limited number of absences caused by official university business (varsity team sports, band trips, etc.) and personal emergencies such as illness or injury are excused when the student involved takes a make-up quiz on the day he or she returns from the absence. No make-ups may be done at a later date than this. Talk to the teaching assistant about make-ups. Long periods of illness requiring continuous absence from class should be handled by canceling enrollment and withdrawing from school, with the student returning and taking the class when well during a later semester.

Other absences--for weddings, funerals, illness of relatives, etc.--should be made up by doing one of the five possible extra-credit assignments. No permission is needed to do these assignments.
