Grade Curve:

Letter grades will be assigned only at the end of the course, but you can keep track of your grade by applying the following standard curve:

100-92

A

91-90

A-

89-87

B+

86-83

B

82-80

B-

79-77

C+

76-73

C

72-70

C-

69-68

D+

67-65

D

below 65

F

It is possible that a more lenient curve will be applied at the end of the course if it seems advisable, but the curve will not be made more demanding; so you may be assured that if you have an 83% average for the course you will receive at least a B. Note, however, that sometimes the distribution of grades is even enough so that no curve needs to be applied. In the past there has been a very high correlation between poor attendance and flunking. The daily quizzes are the best measure of sustained learning in this class. Remember that you can fail or miss no more than 20 of these quizzes and still pass the course, no matter what your grades on other assignments may be.
