THE PRESENT COMPANY PRESENTS THE PACE OF YOUTH
A PLAY BY FRANK CROCITTO,
ADAPTED FROM STEPHEN CRANE'S STORY
AT THE SCHOOLHOUSE, NEW PALTZ

What better way to welcome in the spring than to grab a seat and enjoy Stephen Crane's tribute to the irrepressible vigor of young love – The Pace of Youth. Deservedly famous for his serious side through his novel, The Red Badge of Courage (written at the age of nineteen), Crane had a lesser-known light and humorous side. Using an impressionistic style, colorful, vivid prose, and endearing characters, Crane paints a delightful picture of life and love on the seashore of the Jersey coast one fine summer in the gay nineties. The Present Company, under Frank Crocitto's direction, with its imaginative ensemble-style playing brings Crane's story to exuberant life. A pleasant, wholesome, theatrical entertainment. Frank himself -whose adaptation of Stephen Crane's The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky has been performed around the world - will introduce the show and this bright side of the “Boy Wonder” of American Literature.
