Isabella Bird

The character Isabella Bird was generated from the use of A Curious Life for a Lady by Pat Barr, originally published by Macmillan, London. Isabella Bird (Oct. 15, 1931-1904) was born to a clergyman in Yorkshire, England. As a frail child, she was prescribed frequent outdoor excursions. However, when she was 18, a fibrous tumor was found and had to be removed from her spine, leaving her bed ridden for a time. Taking the advice of her doctor, Isabella took a long sea journey to Canada and the United States in 1954. She continued to make trips all over the world and write articles about her adventures, religious topics, and social issues.
