INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE

(1994)

Notes:
Starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Christian Slater, Kirsten Dunst, Antonio Banderas.

Summary: Louis, a vampire with a conscience, tells his undead life story to a San Francisco reporter. He chronicles his exploits with the hedonistic Lestat and the tragic woman-child Claudia. Will Louis ever find peace as a member of the eternally undead?

Commentary:
Dialogue: Lots of touchy-feely soul-searching injects lifeblood into the story.
Vampires: Traditional or Not? These vampires are as Victorian as they come. While most of their characteristics follow the traditional Bram Stoker mold, each of these vampires has a distinct personality.
Vampires: Physical appeal? YES, YES, YES!!!! Louis's soulful gaze and sensitive lower lip attract many appealingly buxom female victims.
Gore Factor: Lots of blood, slayings, and burnings make this movie a slasher with brains. Interesting note: vampires do indeed possess internal organs.
Scariness/Suspense: This movie is more a bloody vampire soap opera than a horror flick.
Target Audience: Brad Pitt and Anne Rice fans, line up!
