OFFICE OF COMMERCIALIZATION
The Washington State University Office of Commercialization (OC) administers development of University inventions (see also 35.50). OC distributes royalties and other payments as described in the Washington State University Faculty Manual sections regarding intellectual property and patent policy.
The operational expenses and the commercialization activities of the Office of Commercialization are funded from sources that include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Allocations by the University from its annual budget;
- Office of Commercialization's portion of royalty allocations pursuant to the Faculty Manual; and
- Eighty percent of the first $250,000 of royalties allocated to University pursuant to Section IV.G of the Faculty Manual, in any given fiscal year.
"Royalties allocated to University" are the University's portion of the royalties distributed in accordance with the terms of Section IV. G of the Faculty Manual in existence at the time of invention disclosure to the University. EXCEPTION: Royalties payable from agricultural commodities are not considered royalties payable to the University for the purposes of this section.
