Welcome to the website for English 443/543 for Spring 2005. This site is intended to provide a range of information about English 443/543, including the course syllabus, a student list, summaries of the class, an archive of handouts and quizzes, discussion in which to post questions and comments about the class, and your current grades on the work of the course.

The contents of the site are presented in an expandable outline form on the left. Click on the closed file cabinets to expand the outline and open file cabinets to collapse it.

Take a look at What's New to see a list of recent changes and additions. Whenever I change or add anything else in the site or in the class or have an announcement, I'll put a notice here. The most recent changes are listed first, and, if appropriate, the item will linked to the page with the updated content.

What's New

Friday, 29 April
- Put in file folders on my door for students: (1) all remaining graded quizzes and homeworks; (2) formalized versions of all the rules in chapters 3-5; (3) the take-home final (which is due in my office by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 4 May)
Monday, 10 January
- The textbook we will be using in this class is available at http://www.ling.ohio-state.edu/~odden/IntroducingPhonology/IntroducingPhonology.pdf
- Phonetic fonts for Mac and Windows are available for free from SIL at http://www.sil.org/computing/fonts/encore-ipa.html
- Fill out and submit the Student Information form by Friday, 14 January.
- Use the Message Board link on the left to go to the class discussion site and post a comment or question by Friday.
