About McCroskey
Introduction
The International House of Washington State University is a unique residence hall where domestic and international students can live and learn together in a culturally diverse environment.
Building on a tradition begun at Washington State University in 1919 with the establishment of the nationfs first independent French and Spanish Houses, the International House supports the Universityfs commitment to internationalization as stated in the Common Understandings and Planning for the Second Century documents.
Physical Description
Physically McCroskey has a total of 20 single rooms, 23 double rooms, and 2 triple rooms for a total of 72 residents. The hall is co-ed with rooms for men and women together on every floor. McCroskey also incorporates a large kitchen facility for use by residents, as well as a large recreation room and laundry facilities.
For more information concerning McCroskey please see McCroskey at WSU Housing's web site.
Living in McCroskey Hall
Living in McCroskey is a very unique experience as it is home to many international students as well as domestic students. When room assignments are made domestic students are matched with international students in the double and triple rooms. Therefore, culture exchange can take place and different ideas and customs between cultures can be learned by each other. This also helps new international students become acquainted with campus life in America in a more friendly way.
Community Involvement
McCroskey government is based on a committee system which means that we have 8 committees with 8 chairs to lead those committees.
As such, all residents in the hall are required to serve on at least one committee. Each resident is required to agree to and sign a community involvement agreement. This is required to be signed by the first hall meeting and for any new residents moving into the McCroskey community. Residents wishing to live in the McCroskey community will need to agree to this prior to application understanding that their involvement in hall activities is a requirement.
Applying to McCroskey Hall
McCroskey hall is open to all students of WSU who wish to apply, but because it is such a small hall with only 72 residents it can be very competitive. First of all, a contract will need to be filled with WSU Housing.
Residents currently in a residence hall have a higher priority to choose where to live. If you are a current resident watch for the day to sign up for rooms and come to McCroskey at that time following completion of the WSU Housing contract.
Current residents get priority choice on room assignments, then residents in other halls, then finally WSU Housing Services will assign the remaining rooms based on first-come and space availability basis.
