Who is Eligible to apply?
  • Eighteen to twenty students are admitted to this program each year.
  • All applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of Washington or Idaho.
  • Applicants must be residents of Washington or Idaho and be current high school sophomores or juniors who have a strong interest in a health care profession.
  • This program targets underrepresented minorities, rural-areas, first generation college students, and/or economically disadvantaged students from Washington or Idaho.

What will you be doing in the U-DOC Summer Program?

  • Getting a preview of college life
  • Taking a pre-med curriculum overview
  • Exploring Medicine and other health careers
  • Finding out more about community health issues
  • Gaining exposure to clinical medicine

What will you learn at U-DOC?

  • Basic science including anatomy, biology, chemistry and english
  • Enhance your computer and research skills
  • How to prepare for medical school, including MCAT practice test
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of various health careers

How much does U-DOC cost?

  • U-DOC is free to students.
  • Housing and food is provided.
  • Students will be paid a small weekly stipend while at the program.

What does a typical day entail?

Sample schedule:

9:00 am - 10:00 am English
10:00 am - 12:00 pm Chemistry
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Intro to Health Careers

What about my summer job?

  • We require that students not hold summer jobs or participate in other programs while U-DOC is in session due to the programs demanding schedule.
