Sections 1.1-1.4, 2.1-2.4, 3.1-3.5, 4.1-4.6, 5.1-5.4, 6.1-6.8, 7.1-7.4, 8.1-8.2, 9.1-9.2

Grades:
1.
The course grades will be based on 3 quizzes, 3 midterm exams and a comprehensive final exam weighted as follows.

3 quizzes (33+33+34=) 100 points
3 midterm exams ( $3\times 100=$) 300 points
final exam 100 points

2.
The quizzes, midterm exams and the final exam are all closed book and closed notes. No graphing or programmable calculators are allowed at the quizzes, midterm exams or at the final exam.
3.
Quizzes, midterm exams and the final exam are scheduled as follows. The quizzes will be given in Todd Auditorium. The locations for the midterms and the final examination will be announced in class.

Quiz 1 Thursday, Jan. 20, 10:00 a.m.
Midterm 1 Thursday, Feb. 3, 8:30 p.m.
Quiz 2 Thursday, Feb. 17, 10:00 a.m.
Midterm 2 Thursday, March 2, 8:30 p.m.
Quiz 3 Thursday, March 23, 10:00 a.m.
Midterm 3 Thursday, April 6, 8:30 p.m.
Final Exam Tuesday, May 2, 1:00 p.m.

Letter grades will be assigned as follows.

90-100% A
85-89% B+
80-84% B
75-79% C+
70-74% C
65-69% D+
60-64% D
0-59% F


Some additional comments:
1.
If a student misses a quiz, a midterm or the final exam, his or her grade will be zero for that quiz, midterm or the final exam.
2.
Every student is expected to solve all the assigned homework problems in a separate note book. Homework is not collected and graded.
3.
Attendance will be randomly checked.
4.
There is a web page for this course on the internet. It may be accessed using
http://www.wsu.edu:8080/$\sim$ari/math201.html or from my home page (see above for URL) by clicking on Math 201. Important announcements, and solutions to graded and returned quizzes and midterm exams will be posted on this web page.
5.
A manual containing solutions to all homework problems is on reserve at the Owen Science and Engineering Library. In addition, the book store has a student's solution manual which contains solutions to all odd-numbered exercises in the textbook.
6.
As a rule, there are no make-up exams for this course. Exceptions will only be made with prior approval of the instructor and proper documentation.
7.
Students with disability should contact the Disability Resource Center (DRC) for information on assistance on taking examinations.
8.
Any student found cheating in any form will be dropped from the course, and may face possible university penalties for academic dishonesty.
9.
WSU ID card is required to take a quiz, a midterm or the final exam.
