We rented an apartment for four days in Madrid, and after settling in we set out on a sunny Sunday afternoon for the famed Prado museum of art, which was located very nearby. One of the first sights we encountered as we crossed the street with the familiar name of our home town on it. George Pullman, who invented the Pullman railroad sleeping car, also founded a town in Illinois named after him, and Pullman, Washington, has the same source for its name; but elsewhere “Pullman” has come to mean “travel in comfort,” and there are all sorts of tour companies, hotels, vans, buses, etc. called “Pullman” as well.
