To determine your score, add up the points. *The perfect score is 30; anything over 30 will be counted as 30.
- If you see a "0" where you know you wrote a comment or a post, please contact me with the link to the comment or post so that your group can be credited.
- * Note: Some blogs have comment moderation on and haven't approved comments. These scores will be corrected if the comments appear. Tell the blog owners to approve the comments!
- Note: If there's no indication of your real name or your group name, I can't credit your group; email me the information and post it in the future.
- Remember to sign your comments with your group name--i.e., "John Lennon for The Beatles"--so that your whole group will get the credit.
- The extra credit post is worth 5 points, but you don't have to write a comment, just the post. Here is the assignment for the extra credit post.
- November 20 is the last day for all blog posts and points. If you post after that, it won't be counted.
- The weblog will be graded primarily on your satisfactory completion of the above criteria and the quality of your posts. If you were asked to do something else, like report on a critical article, and that part is missing, you may see a "1" instead of a "2" for your post that week.
Each blog post counts as follows
3 points = 2 points for the initial post + 1 point for a comment ("reply," designated as R in the chart above). For example, when you reply to the first post by the due date, you'll see a "1" appear in the R1 column.
2 points = 2 points for the initial post but no comment was posted
1 point = 1 point for a comment but no initial post
0 points = post and comment missing, or you are not participating in the blog assignment. Remember, you’re not required to participate, and your report grade and final exam grade will be sufficient.
- A perfect score by the end of the semester is 30 (10 weeks x 3 points maximum per post). You can miss a few posts and still receive credit, but your grade would be reduced. See the syllabus for the range of percentages and grades.
- Total blog post points cannot equal more than 100%. You'll see the grade in Angel after the report assignment period is over (after 11/20).
- I will read all the weblogs and comments each week, but I will only leave comments on half the blogs each week.
- Points for the week will be posted by group name above. Only the total for each individual will be posted in Blackboard, and that will happen at the end of the course.
- What happens if a blog member drops out or fails to post the material that the group has assigned? Groups have a shared responsibility for posting to the blog, and the performance of all depends on each individual member. If a blog member doesn't post the material (responses or posts) that the group has listed as his or her responsibility, group members should discuss that with the individual. The group should try to work it out internally first. If the individual still does not meet his or her responsibilities, the group can inform that individual (and let me know) that he or she is no longer part of the group. Remember, blogging is optional. All class members need to complete only two out of these three: report, blog, Exam 2.
