Marine fishes

• Problem: lower internal osmolarity than seawater

• Water will leave body, sea salts will go in

• Solution: Fish drink large amounts of seawater, then transport out ions (Na+, Cl-) at their gill surface or in urine (Ca++, Mg++, SO4--).
