(For problem 3.1, assume that all the cells sampled are still actively dividing).

(For problem 3.3, assume that no crossovers took place between the centromere and the color blindness gene).

Also,

If the DNA in a chromosome is 60 mm ( = 6 X 104 microns) long (derived from the number of base pairs known to be present), and its length at metaphase is 8 microns, calculate the packing ratio from the full-length DNA molecular to the metaphase chromosome.
