Dr. Indranil Chowdhury

Dr. Chowdhury received his B.S. in Civil Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2006. He went on to earn an M.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (2008) and a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering (2012) from the University of California, Riverside. Before joining WSU, Dr. Chowdhury was a postdoctoral research scholar at the USEPA ORD National Exposure Laboratory (NERL) in Athens, GA.

Yuhao Tian, PhD. Student

Yuhao received his B.S. in Environmental Engineering from China Agricultural University in 2011, and dual M.S. degrees in Environmental Engineering from Peking University and in Chemistry from National University of Singapore 2014. At Peking University, he studied the estrogens in the biological wastewater treatment process, and at NUS, he developed an automated LPME technique with GC/MS analysis. He worked as a Research Assistant for Department of Chemistry at the National University of Singapore in 2014 and 2015. He has a background in analytical chemistry and experience in the operation of GC/MS and LC/MS equipment. Yuhao now is working on the Smart and Efficient Reuse of Resources and waste materials in Urban Food-Energy-Water system.

Iftaykhairul Alam, M.S. Student

Iftaykhairul Alam received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2015. In October of 2015 he participated in an internship with Dhaka Water and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) at a water treatment plant in Saidabaad, Dhaka. He is interested in aquatic chemistry, water quality, and water treatment and distribution systems. He is working on nano-filtration and nano membrane technology for the optimization of drinking water treament.

Mehnaz Shams, M.S. Student

Mehnaz Shams recieved her B.S. in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in September of 2015. She participated in an internship with Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) in September of 2015 and recieved second runner up in a poster presentation organized by the Civil Engineering Sudents Association (CESA) Deptartment of Civil Engineering, BUET. She is interested in water treatement, polluion control, environmental nanotechnology, aquatic chemistry, and remediation technologies. Mehnaz is working on understanding the transformation of graphene oxide nanomaterials in the aquatic environment. She enjoys travelling, music, and movies.
