My grandmother passed away the day before I defended my MFA thesis, which was a novel that fictionalized her journey from Cuba to America. As I continued revising my novel, the line between fiction and non-fiction blurred like the edges of my dreams. “Taking Flight” is an excerpt from that transformation. It will be included in Weathered Edge, a collection of three novellas, published by VP&D House.
