Narrative
I started my trip to the Falls at 10:30am. I packed my car with the
camera, and a cooler.
It is was a real beautiful drive during this part of the year (April).
After driving less than an hour and twenty minutes from Pullman, I came
to Washtucna, and took a left. From there I drove about five miles or
so before reaching the Palouse Falls/Lyons State Park turn off.
From there it is a twisty and hilly 13 miles before getting to the entrance
of the Palouse Falls Park.
The park itself is about 2 miles from the road. Also take notice is
that the road in is gravel and it is an open range for cows and bulls.
The park is a self-guided tour. There are picnic tables and lots of
areas to view the falls.
It is a really spectacular sight.
About 6-8 miles down the road is Lyons State Park. It is down stream
of the Falls and is just as cool.
Lyons State Park offers more picnic tables than the Palouse Falls Park
and has a boat launch area. There is also an area for swimming.
Also, if you are into fishing with out a boat, right across the street,
is a fish hatchery. If you go through the hatchery, there is fishing
area that is open to the public.
