FACULTY EMPLOYMENT ADVOCATE TO TALK AT WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY
The Washington State University chapter of American Association of University Professors (WSU-AAUP) is pleased to announce a presentation by Professor Duane Storti, Protecting Faculty Employment in the “Crisis Economy”, to be given on Tuesday, September 22 at 4:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium (Fine Arts Building) on the Pullman campus. Professor Storti, an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and an adjunct professor of Mathematics at the University of Washington, is a highly successful advocate for protecting quality education by protecting faculty jobs and assuring reasonable workloads and fair pay for all university employees.
Storti is best known for serving as the named plaintiff in the case of Storti v. UW, which re-established the binding legal nature of the UW faculty handbook and led to a settlement in which UW faculty recovered a 2% merit salary increase and over $13,000,000 in back pay and interest. Active with the American Association of University Professors for over a decade, Professor Storti currently serves on the AAUP National Membership Committee and is a co-author of the recently released investigative report on the closure of Antioch College. A reception in the Fine Arts Foyer will follow the talk.
