OUR VISION
The Diversity Education Initiative facilitates open communication and
learning about all kinds of human difference; fosters respectful and
culturally competent interchange and dialogue among all members of the WSU
community; and reduces barriers, which hinder those goals through outreach,
education, and training.
OUR MISSION
The DEI supports WSU's central value of diversity by building internal
expertise in difference, conflict, and change. The Diversity
Education Team facilitates changes through many vehicles of learning,
including study circles, training, public conversations, conflict
resolution, exercises, and dialogue to begin learning.
OUR CORE VALUES:
1. We recognize that each individual has infinite dignity and worth.
2. We seek to create learning communities at every level of the
institution, which empower learners to make change.
3. We understand that change requires commitment, perseverance, training,
and support to be successful.
4. We facilitate an inclusive, responsive, evolving process, which draws on
many people's experiences and insights.
